During the Confirmation

Amber L.·Pittsburgh, USA·June 28, 2026
My granddaughter's the one who talked me into writing this down, said it would mean something to people. Gave a steel mill thirty-one years before they cut my pension out from under me, still bitter about it if I'm honest, a man should get what he worked for. Was at her confirmation, sitting in a pew I hadn't sat in regular since my own confirmation decades back, there for the family, expecting nothing from the day. During the part where the bishop laid his hands on her head, something moved through that whole church, not just me, you could see it land on the faces around the room. She told me afterward she felt it too. Don't know what to make of an old union man feeling something like that in a Catholic church after forty years of barely showing up. But it happened.
