One Note

I have a friend who told me to put this on here since I tell it all the time anyway. Bass player, did church bands as a kid then twenty years of session work after, the kind of work that takes everything out of you and pays you back just enough to keep showing up. Was in a session running past three in the morning, lost count of the takes, producer about to call it a night. Played one note. Room went still in a way I've never felt a room go still before, like the air stopped moving. Drummer looked up the same second I did so I know it wasn't just me. Producer didn't call it after that. We played till the sun came up. That track's out on a record now, you've probably heard it without knowing what was underneath it.
